Another Leader of the Band Leaves the Building

Peoria, Illinois' best-known singer/songwriter, Dan Fogelberg passed away Sunday morning from advanced prostate cancer. For people of my age, his songs were often the slow dances at our high school proms and later, a reminder of loves lost and family relations to be mended. He was no slouch as a guitarist or keyboardist, probably due to both of his parents being great musicians in their own right. His pairing with Tim Weisberg showed the versatility he had as a player and produced one of the great albums of the late 1970's.

As an environmental activist in his later years, he was truly "popular progressive" musician. He leaves behind his wife Jean and among his offspring, "Part of the Plan", "Run for the Roses", "Same Old Lang Syne", "The Power of Gold", "Leader of the Band", "Heart Hotels", "Hard to Say" and "Longer."

Enjoy this live version of "Leader of the Band."

And guys my age (40's to 50's), seriously, get your prostate examined annually--it could save your life. Get a DRE (Digital Rectal Exam) and a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test. Prostate cancer is highly treatable if caught early.
