Johnson County Has New MH/DD Head

It looks like Johnson County Board of Supervisors has appointed a new director of Mental Health/Development Disabilities, or MH/DD.

According to the P-C Kristen Artley is currently the mental health director, Central Point of Coordination administrator and case management director for Franklin County. She will start her new role on Sept. 17.

Artley will replace former director Elaine Sweet, who retired on May 29.

Artley has worked in the mental health and disabilities field for 19 years. She also serves on the state's Community Services Legislative Review Committee.

We'll hope that she manages the program more skillfully than Ms. Sweet did. We'll also hope the state legislature funds the program and continues the move toward real mental health parity.
