Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards drew applause in Knoxville today for his sharp words blasting President George W. Bush’s record on poverty.
Edwards, a former North Carolina senator and trial lawyer stopped in Knoxville following a three-day anti-poverty tour. “I want George Bush to come to these places that I just visited with me and look in the eyes of the people that I saw and tell them why he’s turned his back on them,” Edwards said. “Tell them why he thinks it’s okay for people to live like this.
