Early, Ia. - If the weather cooperates, 78-year-old Mary Ringgenberg will celebrate Independence Day this afternoon by holding her homemade sign at the corner of East Second Street and U.S. Highway 71.
On one side, the sign says, in red ink: Stop this bloody war.The other side, in black ink, reads:LIES OILTORTURE DEBTCOLLATERALDAMAGE
The sign is attached with transparent tape to a broom handle, "because I can't buy a stick of wood here." Ringgenberg will wave to each passing motorist.
