Primary in IC City Council At-Large Race

One that slipped through the cracks. The official word on the Iowa City council race from the Gazette

A primary election will be held Oct. 9 to whittle down the field of City Council candidates running for two open at-large seats.

Five people filed papers by the Thursday night deadline to run for the at-large seats. One will be eliminated after the primary, with other four moving on to the Nov. 6 general election.

The five are: council member Dee Vanderhoef and challengers Matt Hayek, Brandon Ross, Terry Smith and Mike Wright.

Mayor Ross Wilburn and council member Regenia Bailey are running unopposed as they seek reelection to the seats they currently hold, A and C, respectively.
