While General Petraeus discussed war progress, 9 more US troops were killed in Iraq. In Iowa related terms, the number of troops killed is equal to the approximate population of Monticello (3,771).Seven soldiers were killed in a transport accident in western Baghdad, as well as two detainees. 11 additional troops were injured.
Another soldier was killed when his vehicle overturned and caught fire east of Baghdad on Monday, the military announced. Another died from injuries sustained from rocket fire in the northern city of Kirkuk while on patrol on Sunday.
