The Vigil Continues

As has been the Iowa City tradition since the war in Iraq began, there is a vigil on the corner of Clinton and Washington Streets from 5:15 to 5:45 pm. As of late, there has been the addition of UI Antiwar members who have widen the protest to include the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. As you can imagine, this creates some confusion and concern from the core group who is conflicted about that situation.

On the other hand, if it is about bringing peace to the world, we can't ignore places that our government has been so intimate in arming, whether it is in the Middle East, Myanmar, Darfur, Columbia, or anywhere else.

In any case, if you have been a "honker" who has supported the protest from the comfort of your car, consider parking and join us for a few minutes. It is an interesting and dedicated group. We have plenty of signs, so come as you are.

The road to peace is lined not by politicians, but by people who believe in the prospect of peace. Are you a person who believes in this prospect? Then join us. If you believe we are howling into the wind, it is always a distinct possibility that the wind can change directions.
