MIA

I understand how easily things can slip beneath the radar, but I feel really out of it. While visiting my relatives in Ohio, I was completely oblivious to the hanging of Sadaam Hussein and the death of the 3,000 American soldier in Iraq. At least John Deeth's Blog and the Cedar Rapids Gazette captured the local story. I am sickened by this war, but proud of the 65 people in my town that held vigil.

For the record, as of January 2nd at 7:10 am central time:

American soldiers killed since the war began: 3,003
American soldiers wounded since the war began: 22,565
Coaltion troops killed since the war began: 250
Iraqi civilians, solidiers, and police killed in 2006: 16,273 (14,298 civilians, 1,348 police and 627 soldiers)
Iraqi civilians, solidiers, and police killed since the war began: at least 52,473
Aid workers killed in Iraq since the war began: 81 (as of 10/31/06)
Journalists killed since the war began: estimated 109
International contractors killed since the war began: 377
